Aurora Borealis 2026 - Wall calendar (US & CA)
$24.99
At night on May 10 - 11th, 2024 there was a G5 geomagnetic storm that gave the Pacific Northwest an Aurora Borealis show of a lifetime. From the top of the domed night sky, like an umbrella curtain rolling in a cosmic wind, colors like an everchanging liquid rainbow mixing together and draining to the horizon, kept me mesmerized for hours, well into the early morning of the 11th. I found myself switching from my Nikon for stills to my iPhone for video, but by the end, the sky around me morphed & danced so quickly that I would've been as successful at capturing lightning strikes at the gorgeous corona dome to every horizon around me, as I was at capturing a fraction of these pulsing, shooting, dancing Northern Lights. I felt dizzy and drunk, exhilarated and exhausted, grateful and overwhelmed. To say that I felt the majesty of God is close. Words are not enough; it's a feeling I won't soon forget. Later, when I looked closely at my captures, I realized that the Big & Small Dipper, along with other epic constellations, were also shining behind the rolling rainbow waterfall. I hope with each month's photo you feel a small sense of wonder from that magical night!
